Ahead of I'm A Celeb returning to our screens, Louis' name was heavily rumoured when it came to which stars would be heading into camp this time round.
However, Louis hasn't appeared in the original lineup or as a latecomer, with the Irish music mogul now revealing his old boss Simon stopped him from signing up.
According to reports, Louis has blamed X Factor judge Simon for his no show in the jungle, insisting he would be on the show if his pal had not stopped him.
"I was supposed to be doing it," Louis said. "I met them three times, I was nearly going... Simon told me he didn't think it would be good for my credibility. He actually talked me out of it. Otherwise I was going to do it."
Hinting he may now be regretting his decision to walk away, Louis added that he would be up for doing I'm A Celeb next year instead.
"I'm going to keep the door open," he said. "It depends who you're in [the jungle with, but then they don't tell you who you're going to be in with."
Louis continued: "You're in Australia for three weeks, no food, no sleep, people you don't like. I can't swim. I don't like bugs, I don't like spiders, I'd be totally out of my comfort zone."
"But then X Factor's a bit of a jungle too," he joked. "It's a three month jungle as opposed to three weeks."
Speculation had been rife that Louis would be venturing into camp and he seemed like a dead cert this year, after the 63-year-old himself didn't deny he was joining the show.
Last month, Louis admitted he could have been appearing on I'm A Celebrity. At the time, he teased: "Let's see what happens. That is all I am saying. I'm not saying I said no, I am not saying I said yes. Let's see what happens... I could be."
Simon was quick to share his thoughts, though, and publicly told Louis not to do the show.
He told The Sun: "I told [Louis], 'It would be too humiliating'."
While Louis decided not to jet over to Australia, viewers have watched Lady Colin Campbell (for everything you need to know about her click here), Tony Hadley, Kieron Dyer, George Shelley, Jorgie Porter, Susannah Constantine, Yvette Fielding, Chris Eubank, Duncan Bannatyne and Brian Friedman settle into camp life.
They have now been joined by three late arrivals Ferne McCann, Vicky Pattison and Spencer Matthews.
I'm A Celebrity airs nightly on ITV.
Louis Walsh was speaking as part of his support for Sony BRAVIA. Its built-in YouView allows consumers more access to on-demand content than ever before.
