During TOWIE's recent finale, Dan finally plucked up the courage to ask his former flame Kate to be his girlfriend again. Despite breaking her heart after dating her for four years, Dan went out of his way to regain Kate's trust and woo her all over again.
Luckily for him, his efforts paid off and Kate happily agreed to give their relationship another go. And their reunion has gained lots of support from the couple's co-stars, including Lydia who recently told Reveal she is "glad" to see Dan and Kate putting everything behind them.
After telling us she doesn't think Jessica Wright and Pete Wicks will go the distance, Lydia gushed: "[Dan and Kate] are two people that you can see have a massive connection between them!
"They love each other and they probably should have never broken up in the first place. She loves him to bits and he loves her. I'm glad they're back together and putting everything behind them."
"They're kind of like me and James," she insisted. "They met each other when they were very young... they're childhood sweethearts!"
Lydia has been dating her co-star boyfriend Arg for over seven years now and the couple are constantly plagued by engagement rumours. Admitting she thinks a proposal is soon-to-be on the cards for the pair, Lydia told us she thinks Dan and Kate could go the distance and end up tying the knot too.
She added: "I think they could. They are very compatible, they get on and they have a laugh with each other. That's what matters."
Lydia's comments come after viewers watched Kate agree to give her relationship with Dan a second chance.
Earlier in the series, Kate had made her TOWIE debut and was quick to tell Dan he had left her "heartbroken and humiliated", after dumping her out of the blue and pursuing Jess four days later.
Seeing his ex brought back old feelings for Dan and he confessed he had "never stopped loving" Kate, before telling her he is willing to wait for however long it takes for her to forgive him. Even if he did hurry along the process with a huge romantic gesture.
In a bid to get Kate to agree to go on a date, Dan crashed her girls' night to re-enact a scene from Top Gun. It did the trick, and after growing closer to Kate, he finally decided to ask her out again.
Taking Kate on a trip down memory lane, Dan presented her with a scrapbook he had of photographs of the pair when they were together. He then said: ""I know you don't fully still trust me and things need working on over time, but... will you be my girlfriend?"
And sealing their new relationship status with a kiss, Kate said yes before locking lips with her beau. N'aww.
