They're the biggest boyband in the world and have spent most of their five years touring, but One Direction are still bemused by some of the objects fans throw at them on stage.

Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles talked about some near-misses and some unfortunate encounters while performing at concerts in a new TV interview.

Explaining how some of their fans try to attract their attention on stage, Louis told Alison Hammond on ITV's This Morning: "There are a lot of things that get thrown, but more often than not there are a lot of iPhones thrown! And you can just imagine these kids' parents when they get home asking 'Where's your iPhone?' and they reply 'Oh I threw it on stage at the people I'm here to support'..."

Niall added: "Yeah... 'I love you, but here's a phone to the head'."

That must have hurt, boys...

In fact, Liam recalled another standout moment: "Do you remember that time when I got hit with a Terry's Chocolate Orange?... and coins, they hurt."

But, trying to see the funny side, Harry quipped: "It wasn't that bad, I made £1.70 in the last show!"

Liam did, however, suggest this to fans: "I think it's to try and get our attention sometimes - but there's better ways to do it than to throw things at us I think. A funky sign - you've got to love a good sign!"

One Direction are currently promoting their brand new album, Made in the A.M. It's their last album before their extended hiatus.
