With Children In Need's appeal show being broadcasted later this evening, former X Factor host Dermot has been drafted in as a last minute replacement, as Terry has fallen ill.
Since taking over presenting duties many years ago, Sir Terry has become part of the furniture when it comes to Children In Need, but tonight, for the first time since he started, the 77-year-old will miss out on the annual event.
Announcing the news earlier today, a spokesperson for the BBC has said: "We are pleased to announce that fellow Irishman and Radio 2 presenter Dermot O'Leary will be stepping into Sir Terry Wogan's shoes for tonight's Children in Need from 7.30 to 10pm, hosting alongside Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton."
"We are incredibly grateful to Dermot for stepping in at such short notice," the added. "But know he'll do us and Sir Terry proud."
Well, it's not exactly the Friday night I had planned, but it would appear I'm doing @BBCCiN tonight! Get well soon Terry. X— Dermot O'Leary (@radioleary) November 13, 2015
Dermot, meanwhile, confirmed the news via Twitter, telling fans it wasn't quite what he had in mind for his Friday night.
He joked: "Well, it's not exactly the Friday night I had planned, but it would appear I'm doing @BBCCiN tonight!" He then added: "Get well soon Terry X."
Dermot will take the reigns for the first part of the evening alongside Tess and Fearne, with Nick Grimshaw and Rochelle Humes taking over for the second part.
