Last month, it was rumoured that Elle and Mergim had sparked up a romance, after having "major chemistry" during filming. And while there has been no hint of their romance so far onscreen, it seems things between the pair were short-lived, with both Elle and Mergim now turning their attentions elsewhere.
Speaking to The Daily Star recently, Elle revealed: "I'm single now. Mergim and I are just good friends."
According to The Sun, she and her co-star had given into their feelings for each other, after being reunited at a party once filming for The Apprentice wrapped up. Reports suggest the pair had slept together, but a source did add it was "unlikely" that anything further would develop between the pair.
Quizzed about what exactly happened with herself and Mergim, Elle kept coy, keen to keep things just between the pair instead.
Like Elle, Mergim too insisted he was officially back on the market. He revealed he was "single" and added he had already had plenty of offers from other girls, but it would "take him a year" to go through them.
Speaking about his romance with Elle, the budding (and very confident) entrepreneur added: "I'm a good-looking chap with an amazing personality and charm. I'm hard to resist. What woman could refuse me? Elle is an attractive girl."
The co-stars' latest comments come after viewers watched both Elle and Mergim get axed from The Apprentice in a triple showdown.
This week, the candidates had to set up and run a handyman businessman, and after finding themselves on the losing team, Elle and Mergim were fired alongside April Jackson.
Elle took on the role of project manager, but failed to impress after not "planning, strategising and organising" both the team she was leading and her sub team. For that reason, Lord Sugar told her she had "dug a very big hole" for herself and fired her there and then on the spot.
As the sub-team leader Mergim then had to choose two candidates to come back with him into the boardroom. He chose April and David Stevenson. Lord Sugar then told Mergim he doesn't think he has the potential to be his business partner, firing him before then giving April the boot too.
On their exits, Elle said she thinks Lord Sugar made the "right decision", while Mergim said he could leave with the confidence to still "crack on" with his dream.
