Sam Bailey has said X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw "bottled it" on Sunday night when he took the vote to deadlock.

Sam, who won the show in 2013, said Nick Grimshaw should have made a decision between his two acts Mason Noise and Seann Miley Moore instead of putting it back to the public vote.

Mason (far left) was kept in the competition while Seann (far right) was sent home.

On Sunday (8 November), Seann and Mason found themselves in the sing-off. Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini chose to send home Mason, but Rita chose to send home Seann. A confused Nick wanted to make it fair and bring it back to the public vote so he chose to send Seann home to bring it to deadlock.

"I understand that both Seann and Mason are Nick Grimshaw's acts but I think Grimmy bottled it by going to deadlock and should instead have sent Mason packing," Sam said in her blog for Ladbrokes. "When I watched the sing-off I didn't feel any emotion come from Mason. There seemed to be no fight in him or any connection to the song or the audience.

"But if you look at Seann he poured his heart out. He tells you a story every time he performs and you really connect to the emotion when he sings. That is a great quality to have and I'm really gutted that he's gone."

Grimmy struggled to make a decision.

Mum-of-three Sam said she was "shocked" by Seann's exit, but said perhaps Mason could turn it around for himself.

"The sing-off was the best he [Mason] has sounded so far but out of those two it was clear for all to see that he should have gone. He is a very lucky boy and it looks like he's going to be a cat with nine lives. He might even surprise people and make it to the last three at this rate."

Seann has also spoken about his exit, saying he doesn't blame Nick for taking it to the public vote,

He said on Good Morning Britain: "How can he [Nick] choose between his children?...That's how the game is, he couldn't do that as us boys, we were the bad boys, we were a group, a unit."
