Nick Grimshaw initially wanted to hold Judges' Houses in Barbados

X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw has admitted he had every intention of choosing an exotic location for Judges' Houses when he first signed up for the show.

While Rita Ora went to Los Angeles, Simon Cowell to the South of France and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to Rome, Radio 1 host Nick ended up staying in the UK, taking his Boys to the Cotswolds.

Nick had to stay in the UK due to his radio commitments, but he tells Alan Carr on Chatty Man (which will air tonight): "Obviously when I signed up I was like I'm going to milk this and get a free holiday so I was checking flights. Maybe Barbados."

Okay, so the Cotswolds wasn't quite Barbados - far from it in fact - but Nick was also keen to get a reputable guest judge to help him whittle down his category.

Nick invited DJ and music producer Mark Ronson along as his special guest at the Judges' Houses, and he says he was keen to have 40-year-old Mark on board who was only available for the day.

Nick adds: "It was a really beautiful house but we had Mark, and I thought it was more important to have Mark Ronson, who has made huge records, rather than going to Lanzarote with someone a bit sh*t."

Chatty Man airs tonight (Friday 30 October) at 10pm on Channel 4.
