Appearing alongside his mentor Nick Grimshaw on his Radio 1 breakfast show, Mason said: "I know everything that has happened, but let's move on."
Mason's comments come after Nick found himself being booed by the studio audience when he chose the hopeful as his first act to bring through to the live shows.
Mason made a name for himself during the dreaded second stage of bootcamp, after complaining about the lack of airtime his first audition on the show had got onscreen. His comments led to Simon Cowell branding him a "complete a*sehole", before he shockingly dropped his mic on stage and made his exit from the show.
Despite ending on a sour note, Mason was give a second shot at The X Factor, after Tom Bleasby surprisingly quit before heading to Judges' Houses.
Nick chose to reinstate Mason, saying at the time: "Yes he was difficult at the 6 Chair Challenge, but people with an artistic temperament can be difficult. He's talented and in previous auditions excited us Judges. Sometimes a challenge is interesting."
Performing for Nick and Mark Ronson in the Cotswolds, Mason impressed with his rendition of Robin Thicke's 'Live Without You'.
Asked by Nick this morning if he ever thought he would now be preparing for his first live show performance, Mason replied: "Hell no. I didn't ever expect to be here, either way."
Mason will join Che Chesterman and Sean Miley Moore in the live shows and the boys were busy rehearsing for their debut performance yesterday.
Ahead of rehearsals, the boys had moved into the X Factor house (their plush new pad for the remainder of the series) and Nick quizzed his acts on how they are settling in.
Mason revealed: "The house is amazing, you'll love the beds! They have 'I love Nick Grimshaw' on them and 'Team Grimmy' on the mattresses. There's Rita ones, there's Cheryl ones..."
Umm, picture please!
And while Mason revealed the boys are all getting on fine so far, he did hint things could go downhill thanks to Che's snoring...
"I slept in the bathroom last night and Sean slept on the sofa downstairs," he told Nick. "Che is like a tractor!"
Che cheekily quipped: "You know what, I slept fine!"
The X Factor continues this Saturday and Sunday (31 October and 1 November) on ITV.
