The contestants had the gruelling task of the Six Chair Challenge followed by a 'make or break' performance at Judges' Houses, but over the weekend it was the X Factor judging panel that felt the pressure.
With live shows kicking off next weekend, Cheryl, Simon Cowell, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw had to whittle down their categories from six to three, announcing their choices live from Wembley Arena, but who made the cut?
Simon was second to cut his acts from six to three. He had enlisted the help of One Direction's Louis Tomlinson to help him in the South of France, as they watched Bupsi Brown, Anton Stephans, Jennifer Phillips, Max Stone, Kerrie-Anne Phillips and Ebru all perform.
And despite getting advice from 1D's Louis on the day, Simon admitted five out of his top six all had the possibility of going through. But, when it came to crunch time, Simon was certain on two of his acts, impulsively changing his mind when it came to his third...
1. Bupsi Brown
First to bag themselves a place in the lives was Bupsi. We reckon Simon's had a soft spot for her ever since she hit back at the music mogul, telling him she can get 'nasty' in her first audition. She even climbed on the judging panel's desk to prove it!
For Judges' Houses she put on a sassy performance of Ginuwine's 'Pony' that certainly impressed Louis. He told Simon: "She is so likeable."
2. Anton Stephans
Next up was Anton. Simon decided to take a chance on Anton and his so-called "crazy eyes" insisting The X Factor just wouldn't be the same without him. Anton gave it his all with his touching rendition of The Carpenters' 'Superstar'. Louis admitted her "felt emotional" after the crooner's performance, while Simon said he has a "fantastic" voice.
3. Max Stone
Max was Simon's third and final choice, however, he nearly didn't make it to lives. Before announcing Max's name Simon admitted he had changed his mind on the spot, after watching back the singer's performance. Viewers at home thought Jennifer would have been a dead cert in Simon's top three, but he was won over by Max's flawless rendition of Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise'.
Louis proved he was a fan of Max's, gushing after his performance: "I love his voice, he's got that originality." While Simon admitted: "He wasn't a contender until now."
