Taylor Swift has admitted the Twitter spat with Nicki Minaj earlier this year has taught her to always contact artists via private text.

The 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' singer sparked headlines in July when she publicly tweeted Nicki in response to comments Nicki had made in an interview.

Speaking to NME, the star said: "I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone's management, I get their number and I text them. It's an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015."

Nicki had been upset her 'Anaconda' video hadn't been nominated for the main prize at the MTV Video Music Awards, tweeting a string of things including: ""If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."

Taylor thought she was being called out and tweeted: " "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."

Nicki said that wasn't the case.

The girls quickly made up, with Nicki later saying: She was super, super sweet and she apologised. She said, 'You know, look I didn't understand the big picture of what you were saying but now I get it.' We spoke for a long time. We were cracking up laughing on the phone
