Stacey Solomon's ex-boyfriend Steve-O has been jailed for 30 days after climbing a crane to protest against SeaWorld.

The Jackass star was sentenced to a month behind bars following the stunt at a building site in Los Angeles in August.

Steve-O, 41, was accused of lighting fireworks from the top of a crane and inflating a giant whale balloon so the words 'SeaWorld Sucks' were visible.

As well as jail time, he was also handed three years' probation and fines to reimburse the LA police and around 80 fire officers who turned out, as well as being given an order to stay away from the neighbourhood where the crane is located.

But he simply said: "If your goal is to make a statement about captivity, you may as well get yourself locked up.

"I must say I'm ready to go to jail - not just because it will bring so much attention to the plight of orcas in captivity, but because it's nice to let people know I haven't lost my edge. What can I say? I'm a jackass."

He will report to jail in December.

Steve-O appeared on Channel 4's The Jump earlier this year where he struck up a romance with Stacey Solomon. They juggled their long-distance relationship until July, when they called it quits after six months together.
