Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas has made us all nostalgic about Waterloo Road after discussing his breakthrough role as schoolboy Donte Charles.

Adam rose to fame as original bad boy Donte in the BBC drama series from 2006 to 2009.

Donte was a very popular character with viewers, and even though Adam is now well settled at Emmerdale, we had to ask about the show that really made his name.

"Donte was a legend," Adam tells Reveal at the Inside Soap Awards 2015 sponsored by Dream Bingo. "Donte has basically gone to the Emmerdale village! It's Donte, I'm playing Donte!"

All joking aside, Adam reveals: "I never want to let that character go, he's such a legend. Even today I still get people coming up to me talking about Donte."

We miss Donte too!

Waterloo Road came off our screens for good after in March 2006, exactly nine years after it first aired. Adam adds: "Waterloo Road was amazing, I loved every minute of it and I can't complain."

In 2009, Adam joined Emmerdale as Adam Barton, and he's now enjoyed six years on the primetime ITV soap, which also won 'Best Soap' at the ceremony.

"I'm very thankful to be working here today with Emmerdale," he tells us. "It's the best soap on television entertaining the nation. It's brilliant, it's got no fault, so yes, I'm loving it."
