A statement released on Tuesday afternoon (6 October) said: "It is with deep sadness that Kerry announces the end of her marriage to George Kay. Her focus now will be on her gorgeous children."
Kerry and George celebrated their one-year anniversary last month and had seemed happy at the time, with Kerry saying: "You'll always be the one who makes me happy. You'll always be the one I want beside me. You'll always be my love, my best friend, my husband. I love you.
"No matter what we are a team!! Love you so much baby xxxx."
George had replied: "Happy anniversary to my lover, best friend and soulmate. Love you so much baby. Here's to the rest of our lives together xxx."
They first met as teenagers in Warrington but romance didn't blossom until they met again as adults. George proposed to Kerry in front of her kids in Blackpool in 2013 but later said he'd always fancied her. "I've always loved her, I think, from very early on," he said. "I've always thought she is beautiful and great to be around."
Atomic Kitten's Kerry and former rugby league player George married at a star-studded ceremony at Totworth Court Hotel near Bristol in September 2014. Guests included Michelle Heaton, Katie Price and Mel B's sister Danielle Brown.
Kerry gave birth to the couple's daughter Dylan Jorge in April 2014. She's also mum to daughters Molly and Lilly-Sue from her marriage to Brian McFadden and son Max and daughter Heidi from her marriage to taxi driver Mark Croft.
Just last month, the couple had been seen on a sunshine holiday together in Majorca, putting on an affectionate display, kissing and hugging by the pool. They were also seen looking close at the National Reality TV Awards in London on 30 September, where they kissed for the cameras.
They've had a difficult time over the past year which saw George briefly detained under the Mental Health Act after mixing steroids and alcohol. Then this year, they had another tough time when George was forced to deny allegations he had conspired to commit robbery. He was cleared of all charges.
Overnight, it was alleged George had been arrested on suspicion of Taser possession and assault following an alleged dispute at their home in East Sussex. He has not responded to the claims.
In an interview last month, singer Kerry suggested that ghosts in the family home may have been responsible for their run of bad luck.
She told The Sun: "I know this sounds crazy but I'm convinced it was the ghosts that did this. The negative energy has been following me all my life. I have a goal and then something bad always happens. Whether it's drugs, divorce, bankruptcy, my exes' affairs or George's health scare."
"It's almost like we're arguing over things that we don't need to be arguing about. In the run-up to the wedding, everything that could go wrong went so wrong... the amount of s**t we've been through as a couple, most people don't go through in a lifetime."
