Last night, viewers watched as Katie kicked off Rita Ora's Six Chair Challenge with the girls. With only six seats and a slew of hopefuls to get through, Rita found herself with some tough decisions to make, but she seemed quite certain when it came to deciding Katie's fate.
After the 21-year-old failed to impress with her rendition of Christina Aguilera's 'The Voice Within', Rita told her it wasn't good enough, before sending her home. Now, Katie has hit back, insisting she may have progressed if she had been allowed to sing her first choice in song.
In an interview with The Daily Star, Katie said: "I wanted to sing a Jessie J or Beyoncé song, but the music execs wouldn't let me. I think it had an effect on my performance... If I'd sung the song I'd wanted, I think the outcome would have been different."
Following her performance, Nick Grimshaw told Katie he thinks she has "auditioned better" in the past, while Cheryl Fernandez-Versini said: "I can sense your nerves and that makes me nervous."
Katie also had Rita Ora and Simon Cowell at loggerheads, after Simon critiqued her performance quite harshly. He told her: "If it was me I would give you a chair... but not one of those. I'd give you a chair at home."
Annoyed at Simon, Rita hit back: "That was just rude." Before telling Katie, her nerves got the better of her and her performance just wasn't good enough.
Recalling her comments from the panel Katie slammed Simon for being "cruel". She added: "I thought Simon's comment was a joke at first. I cried. That's how cruel it was."
Despite Katie fighting her corner and telling Rita how badly she wants to go through, she was given the boot. And although she doesn't regret auditioning for the show, Katie did admit she wouldn't apply again.
She wasn't the only hopeful sent packing, as Rita had the difficult job of sending home some girls, after giving them a seat, to make room for another act.
Finding the pressure all a little too much, Rita told her fellow judges she felt like she was going to have a "mini panic attack", before insisting she couldn't go through with her decisions. And after the audience didn't agree with one choice Rita made (she chose to swap Karen Mav for Kiera Weathers), the crowd began to boo her, before declaring she brought Karen back.
After joking she was probably "the most hated person in the UK", Rita then picked her final six, taking Kiera, Monica Michael, Lauren Murray, Chloe Paige, Havve Rebke and Louisa Johnson to Judges' Houses with her.
Rita will be joined by Meghan Trainor in LA, enlisting the 'All About That Bass' singer's help to then pick her finalists for the live shows.
Next week, the Six Chair Challenge continues with Cheryl, Nick and Simon deciding on their six from their categories.
