Peter Andre topped the leaderboard with an energetic Cha Cha on the first week of Strictly Come Dancing.

The glitz and glam kicked off on Friday night with the remaining couples being shown on Saturday, but Peter proved the old saying of 'save the best for last' as he earned an impressive 30 points.

Wearing a hot pink shirt, popstar Peter did plenty of hip movements and fancy footwork as he and professional dance partner Janette Manrara danced to 'Ain't No Other Man' by Christina Aguilera.

Receiving a standing ovation from the studio audience, host Tess Daly simply said: "That was HOT. You raised the roof in the studio."

Len Goodman said it was "the best dance of the two nights". While Bruno Tonioli said he wanted more "smooth hip action", adding, "Come on, snake hips"!

Elsewhere, Craig Revel Horwood said it was a show-stopper, agreeing with the judges: "It was sharp, it was clean and you rocked it darling."

The total judges' scores were: Craig - 7, Darcey Bussell - 8, Len - 8 and Bruni - 7.

Trailing closely behind Peter on the leaderboard was Call The Midwife star Helen George and pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec. The duo performed a beautiful and captivating Waltz to 'With You I Am Born Again' by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright, which earned them 29 points.

Helen George and pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec came in second place.

In joint third was four couples. Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice, Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani, Kellie Bright and Kevin Cliton, and Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko, who all earned 27 points from the judges!

It wasn't as much of a successful night for BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, as her Cha Cha with pro dancer Pasha Kovalev earned her a total of 16 points. The judges didn't hold back either, with Bruno saying Carol "combined a flood of errors with a total technical drought".
