Kavana starred on ITV2 show The Big Reunion last year, where he joined Dane Bowers, Adam Rickitt, Gareth Gates and Kenzie to form the supergroup 5th Story.
But, it wasn't used for the band as Kav said there "wasn't much momentum".
Speaking in a new interview with Inclusive Networks, Kav revealed: "I actually wrote the song for 5th Story, the group I was in for the TV show The Big Reunion.
"There was no way the five of us were going to write together as it was just too many egos so we were all sent off to write for a possible record that we were possibly going to release. I went away and wrote a few songs and Déjà Vu was one of them, and I really liked it."
Kav, who is well-known for his 90s hit 'I Can Make You Feel Good', released 'Déjà Vu' this month, making it his first solo single in over a decade.
"There just wasn't much momentum with 5th Story and I didn't want to see the song go to waste so I thought I'd release it myself," he continued.
"We've rejigged it a bit and gave it a more 1950s vibe and before you knew it I was making a video and Katie Price was involved and it all took off."
