Rylan Clark has confirmed there was an "altercation" on Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side last night, but said he can't go into more detail because it's now a police matter.

Fans were shocked when transmission was cut on the CBB spinoff show on Tuesday evening (22 September), just as panellists Farrah Abraham and Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace started to row.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning today, host Rylan said: "I can't really sit here and go into detail because it is a legal matter now. There was an altercation last night and we did have to cut transmission and cut the show short and go live to the house.

"There was an altercation last night and there are a lot of stories on social media. I want to say to people reading those stories, please wait until you get an official line from Big Brother, me, the show..."

Those stories have included allegations of a drink and chair being thrown that led to another panellist, Vicki Michelle, being taken to hospital. She tweeted overnight to say she had been released after a medical check and was okay.

Rylan went on to say: "I'm hoping that tonight I can go into it a bit more. I'm going to Big Brother right after this and we'll have meetings about what happened. Hopefully tonight we can explain a bit more what happened - but don't quote me on that."

He said the show had been recorded on delay last night because there was an hour-long gap between the live eviction at 9pm and CBBBOTS starting at 11pm. "Lucky for us, but not the viewers. I know some have moaned that we didn't show them what happened but when something like that happens we have to be very careful."

Rylan also gave an update on Vicki, saying: "Like I said, I can't go into too much detail. I did speak to Vicki earlier today. She is good. I want to say thank you to our audience that were there last night. There were a lot of our regular audience members in there and they made it easier than it would have been."

The only statement issued by Channel 5 so far says: "Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side was interrupted this evening due to an incident on the set."

A police spokesperson has confirmed officers are investigating: "Hertfordshire Constabulary received a report at 10.55pm on the evening of Tuesday, September 22nd regarding an incident which is alleged to have occurred in the Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. The incident occurred a short time before the call. Officers are currently making inquiries to establish the exact circumstances of what happened and will release further details when appropriate."
