The producer became involved in a Twitter spat with 1D's Louis Tomlinson earlier this year, following Zayn Malik's exit from the band in March.
Naughty Boy had been working on solo music with Zayn.
Speaking on today's ITV's Lorraine, the producer said: "I got caught up in a bit of a circus as in when Zayn left the band, I got accused of basically... [people thought] I was the reason why he left, because he wanted to work with me.
"But do you know what it is? One Direction is like an economy, it's not a band. It became a bit of a circus and in hindsight it's like I went back to primary school, but with Beyoncé [who features on his new single] and this song, I feel like I'm doing my Masters."
Naughty Boy also spoke about the Twitter spat, saying: "I hated it, I want to put that aside and just concentrate on what I do.
"Do you know what, the whole year has been a journey and to end it on this note is the best way I can actually explain what I do best [which] is make music and hopefully inspire people. I want to make songs for people's weddings, wedding songs, funeral songs those are the songs I want to be remembered for. I'm not a tabloid guy, I don't want to be in the papers for anything apart from what I do best, which is make music."
