Melvin Odoom now knows exactly what it's like to be an X Factor contestant, after auditioning in front of the judging panel. Yes, really!

Taking to the stage at bootcamp, Melvin (who hosts The Xtra Factor with Rochelle Humes) decided to give the auditioning process a go, channeling his inner Bruno Mars for his performance...

The TV presenter really did give it his all, going all out with his dance moves and his outfit.

Donning a shiny 90s style tracksuit with a hefty gold chain (and what appears to be one very oiled chest!), Melvin strutted his stuff on stage, treating the judges to his rendition of 'Uptown Funk'.

You can't knock a guy for trying and Melv even went as far as to whip off his jacket, throwing it to the ground, before doing the robot completely shirtless.

Top mark for efforts!

The Kiss FM DJ seemed to have the judges on board as he sang his heart out. Simon Cowell and Rita Ora couldn't resist flashing a smile and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw were even singing along in parts.

But what did they really think? It wouldn't be an X Factor audition without hearing the judges' critiques and while Simon and co did offer their thoughts to Melvin, we're going to have wait to find out what exactly was said.

Viewers can find out whether Simon liked or loved Melv's rendition during next week's episode of The Xtra Factor on Sunday 27 September.

Rochelle, you're up next!

Melvin's audition comes as this year's X Factor hopefuls are gearing up for the Judges' Houses round of the competition.

While there were plans to make this year's Judges' Houses live, reports have said ITV have now scrapped such plans due to logistical difficulties with filming live from four different countries, and potentially four different timezones.

A source told The Mirror that now, each judge will jet off to their exotic judges' houses location as per usual, and they'll watch their six chosen acts audition for them. But in a twist, the acts won't find out who is through to live shows until they are back in London.

We will find out which acts are going to live shows in a live show filmed in London after the judges' houses episodes have aired on TV.

So far, the judges are keeping quiet on just where they will be whisking their acts off to, apart from Nick. He has told Melvin and Rochelle he plans to host his acts in his hometown of Oldham!

"My mum's going to be ironing in the background and auntie Carmel as my guest judge. She makes sick cheese and onion pies," he said.

Now that we would love to see!
