Dan Osborne said he was "proud" of fiancée Jacqueline Jossa last night as viewers watched her reprise her role as Lauren Branning in EastEnders.

Jacqueline has been on maternity leave after she and Dan welcomed their daughter Ella in February, but she has made an early return as Lauren for a brief stint on the BBC One soap.

On Monday's episode (14 September), Lauren came back to Albert Square ahead of her dad Max's murder trial, as he stands accused of killing Lucy Beale.

A pregnant Lauren arrived back in Walford, making her first stop at the Beales' to visit Peter's step mum Jane Beale.

Gushing over his fiancée - and indeed her character too - Dan said: "Lauren Branning was back tonight and she's easily a 10/10. Proud of my girl @jacquelineMjos. Love you x."

Fans were clearly pleased to have Jacqueline back on screen, as #LaurensReturn began trending on Twitter.

Viewers last saw Lauren on screen in February. She left Walford with boyfriend Peter Beale to start a new life in New Zealand, shortly after she announced she was pregnant with his child.

EastEnders airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
