Selena Gomez has admitted she felt hurt by bodyshaming comments made earlier this year following pictures of her on the beach in a bikini.

The 'Come & Get It' singer, 23, told Power 106 radio station that she was fed up with comments about her figure following those images on a Mexican beach in April.

While most people thought she looked incredible in photos like this one above, shared to Instagram, there were shockingly some nasty jibes about her size.

She said: "I dealt with a lot of bodyshaming this year and I've never experienced that before. I don't care about that stuff. I did start gaining weight and I didn't mind it.

"But man that hurt. It was really hurtful. I have experienced people who have tried to control that sort of stuff before."

Selena went on to discuss the partially naked image that appears on the front cover of new album Revival.

"This is my time. I want to do it how I want to do it. It's a beautiful photo. I'm proud of it. It's not about my weight. I'm not gonna let them get to me. I can do what I want. I'm not doing that all the time. It's beautiful and represents the album. It's bare. I didn't want diamonds and thick make-up on the cover."

She added: "This is not even going to be a subject once the album comes out. The music will take over because that's how confident I am about it."

Revival is released in October. Its lead single is 'Good For You'.
