The Juno actress brought Samantha to the premiere of her new movie Freeheld at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday evening (13 September).
Ellen, 28, held hands with artist Samantha as they posed for cameras, both wearing monochrome suits, and later told E! News to have Samantha by her side that night was "pretty special".
"I'm in love," she added.
Ellen told the October issue of Out magazine that it was her role in Freeheld that inspired her to come out in 2014, saying: "I remember thinking, 'Ellen, how in God's name could you make this film and not be out? What's interesting to me is how long it took to make the movie – for it to finally come together – and how my internal progression toward coming out was naturally in line with it."
Based on a true story, Freeheld stars Julianne Moore as a New Jersey police officer called Laurel, who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and fights for the right of partner Stacie (Ellen) to receive her benefit pensions.
