But... Girls Aloud star Cheryl actually denied ever saying that, tweeting on 27 August that her words had been twisted and calling the headline "ridiculous". But that didn't stop Lorraine speaking about it in her weekly column for The Sun.
Lorraine said: "Wee teeny tiny Cheryl Fernandez-Versini says being a judge on X Factor is like giving birth. No it isn't. Having your hair and make-up done and being poured into a bespoke designer dress to utter a few clichés is never going to be the equivalent of trying to push a watermelon through the eye of a needle.
"Cheryl is obviously seriously deluded, and if she is ever lucky enough to become a mum, she will look back on her silly comment and won't now whether to laugh or cry."
The line about Cheryl comparing X Factor to birth was in a national newspaper last week, but Cheryl immediately hit out against it via Twitter, saying: "This is exactly why I can't stand doing interviews! What a ridiculous headline… this is up there with one of the most ridiculous yet."
She said the journalist had created the headline, rather than those words coming out of her mouth.
In the actual article, Cheryl was quoted as saying she could see the similarity between the two experiences in that judging X Factor is tiring and hard work and you think you'll never do it again once it's done, but after a while, time passes and you forget the bad bits and just focus on the good and do it all over again.
