Back in June it was confirmed Nick and Rita Ora are this year's new X Factor judges, replacing Spice Girl Mel B and show favourite Louis. For months there was so much speculation over whether the Irish music mogul was staying or going, but Louis finally confirmed he wouldn't be returning after eleven years as an X Factor judge.
And as the show launched in London earlier this week, talk of Louis' exit soon came up between the judges, with Simon, Nick and Cheryl all admitting Louis is better for leaving.
Cheryl made the revelation when asked what she was missing about Louis being on the panel with her. She joked: "Nothing... no, no that's a joke. He's happier, I think, not doing the show."
Newbie Nick was quick to agree with his co-star, telling the press Louis was the "happiest he has ever been" when he bumped into him. Although Nick did add Louis had a few words of warning for himself and Rita, telling the pair "they don't know what they have got themselves into".
Since leaving The X Factor, Louis has admitted his last year on the show wasn't as fun as it had been previously.
"I loved doing the show for 10 years," he said. "I didn't love it last year if I'm really honest with you. I liked it and it paid me well but I think I was just there too long and I was cracking up a bit."
Despite falling out of love with the show, that didn't stop Louis returning for a brief appearance this series. Proving he's a good sport, Louis returned to make a surprise cameo in The X Factor's new advert, playing the role of a cleaner sweeping the floors of X Factor HQ.
Insisting Louis not being on the show will be good for him, Simon cheekily added at The X Factor launch: "He'll be able to go to bed a bit ealier and he can watch the show in bed in his pjs and he can call me after the show. We've got him a couple of seats at the live shows, restricted viewing, but I'm looking after him."
He even hinted at the prospect of bringing the boyband fanatic back as a guest judge later on in the series, saying: "We'll make him judge of the week or something... we'll do like boyzone week or something like that."
Can you imagine?! We reckon Louis would love that!
As well as the absence of Louis, the judges revealed some new and exciting changes to The X Factor this series too.
Now viewers will be able to decided which judge gets which category after watching the first few rounds of auditions. Not only that, but the results of Judges' Houses will now be announced live and Cheryl has welcomed the views of fans while making her decision.
She said: "I'll be watching my Twitter feed to see what everyone else's opinion is. I think it's going to be really good and really fun. It'll be good to get other people involved initially. [The public] are going to choose our category too, people are invested from that early on, so it'll be fun."
The X Factor returns this Saturday and Sunday 29-30 August.
