The 'Call My Name' singer mentored Lauren on the last series of the ITV show, helping her finish in fourth place.
And today, Chezza reached out to Lauren over Twitter after watching Lauren's interview with Good Morning Britain in which she said singing had taken a backseat and she was now pursuing YouTubing and presenting.
Lauren added on Twitter: "Obviously I'm never ever giving up singing guys, but as well as singing why not take all of the other amazing opportunities I've been given."
That promoted a retweet from Cheryl, who added: "Proud of you!"
Fans of both were quick to say how happy they are that both women are still in touch and that Cheryl is still feeling protective and proud of her young contestant.
Lauren has said in the past that Cheryl was a hands on mentor throughout her X Factor experience, even inviting Lauren round to her house to prepare for live shows.
In November last year, Lauren said: "She had me round her house countless times this week preparing me for whatever way the show might have gone this weekend. We had Indian takeaway, we watched I'm A Celeb, had a massage…
"After the show, I said, 'Stay in touch, yeah.' She went, 'Don't even say that!' We will. [Her husband] JB has already invited me round for dinner tomorrow!"
