Jacqueline Jossa has filmed her first scenes for EastEnders following maternity leave, according to a new report today.

The actress – who plays Lauren Branning in the BBC One soap – has been off our screens since February, when her character left for New Zealand with Peter Beale.

EastEnders' Ben Hardy bows out of the soap as market stall trader Peter Beale along with Lauren Branning - 24 February 2015.

But a new report in The Sun claims that Jacqueline has secretly filmed her return scenes, and will appear on screen during dad Max's trial for killing Lucy Beale. A source said: "Max's trial will be a very exciting storyline and Lauren's return will be explosive because she knows Max didn't kill Lucy..."

While the report says Lauren will be there at Max's trial, the character won't make her full return to the soap until next year.

Jacqueline, 22, has always said she would return to EastEnders following her first child's birth, saying in November last year: I know I will be coming back. I read somewhere I was taking a year out which isn't true. I definitely want to go back."

Her daughter Ella, whose dad is former TOWIE star Dan Osborne, was born in February.

The actress brought Ella to the EastEnders set back in July to introduce her to colleagues including Shona McGarty, who shared a cute picture of herself cuddling Ella.
