The singer-songwriter was confirmed on Monday afternoon (24 August) as the tenth celebrity contestant, joining the likes of Peter Andre, Georgia May Foote, Daniel O'Donnell and Carol Kirkwood, who have already been announced.
Jay, 25, found fame in band The Wanted, which was managed by Scooter Braun, the man behind the success of Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepson. They had several chart successes including 'Heart Vacancy', 'Glad You Came', 'All Time Low', 'Lightning' and 'Warzone'.
They have been on hiatus since 2014.
Although Jay's part of a chart-topping band, that doesn't mean he has any fancy moves. "In the group we were about as coordinated as a sack of frogs, so they gave up and made us stand in different positions and walk around a bit, and we struggled with that," he admitted.
Jay has confessed he will be happy just to get to the half way stage... so he's hoping his biggest fear does not come true."That I completely blank," he said. "I don't think I've ever seen someone just stand there for the entire duration of the song, and I really don't want to be the first."
Other celebrities confirmed for this year include boxer Anthony Ogogo, BBC Proms presenter Katie Derham, news broadcaster Jeremy Vine, EastEnders' Kellie Bright and chef Ainslie Harriet.
