Gemma Collins has said the stress of filming TOWIE used to make her gain weight.

The fashion designer – who quit the show this week – told the new issue of Woman's Own that she struggled with her eating habits because of the stress of taking part in the reality series.

Discussing her current figure, Gemma said: "I'm a size 20 at the minute. I did get down to an 18 but filming stresses me out so much that I start putting on weight again."

Things kick off in TOWIE between Lauren Pope, Vas J Morgan, Gemma Collins and Bobby Norris, 5 July 2015

Gemma had a tough time on the last series of TOWIE, which included explosive rows with Vas J Morgan and Lauren Pope, and a fall out with her best friend Bobby Cole Norris.

"I always have such scrutiny on my weight, I get hounded," she continued. "I'm in the public eye but I'm sick of seeing hurtful comments towards other plus-size women on my social media. I will always stand up to the fat shamers out there."

Gemma walked away from TOWIE on Monday, saying it was time to focus on other projects, including expanding her fashion empire.

There have been rumours that she's planning a return to I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! later this year, in a bid to redeem herself after only lasting three days last series. But that has not been confirmed.

However, it appears she has no shortage of opportunities, as a source told us earlier today: "Gemma has been inundated with offers since her announcement about quitting TOWIE. Everybody wants a piece of her. She's never been more in-demand!"
