The 12th series of the talent show will return to our screens on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August on ITV 8pm. Cancel all plans and bagsy the best seat on the sofa!
The date was announced by ITV with a message to "expect the unexpected". Ooh, very mysterious!
At this point, we're unsurprised by the news that a few X Factor surprises are still on the horizon. This year's series has already delivered a few shocks and it hasn't even aired!
Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are back on the judging panel, alongside new recruits Rita Ora and BBC Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw. Although Simon recently admitted he had his doubts about the pair, the panel seem to have hit it off!
Long-time presenter Dermot O'Leary stepped down after eight years at the helm and has been replaced by former Xtra Factor duo Caroline Flack and Olly Murs.
The Saturdays' Rochelle Humes and Kiss FM DJ Melvin Odoom have also replaced Sarah-Jane Crawford on spin-off show, The Xtra Factor.
Then came a crushing blow when it was announced Peter Dickson, aka the legendary voiceover man, had left his role after 11 years.
Just when we'd wrapped our heads around all of this, it was rumoured the format was being shaken up too! Apparently the judges' houses round will be live this year and there could be a goodbye to all those X Factor sob stories, with producers reportedly telling hopefuls to avoid them, in an attempt to keep things fun.
So now we've got 10 days to ponder what these 'unexpected twists' could be, and to try and figure out who could ever replace Peter...
