The Bradford-born singer is embarking on a solo career following his exit from One Direction in March, and a source says he thinks Los Angeles would be the perfect base.
An inside told The Sunday Mirror: "Zayn is relishing the opportunity to make a new start. He is single and solo, his career is in America and he absolutely loves Los Angeles, so he wants to stay. He is currently looking for the perfect home. He is so excited about it."
If true, he would be the second One Direction star to make the move across the pond, as former bandmate Harry Styles also owns a home in Los Angeles and spends much of his free time there.
Zayn quit One Direction mid-way through their world tour in March, saying he wanted to be a normal 22-year-old again. But shortly afterwards, it emerged he was working on solo material and was hoping to relaunch his career as a solo artist.
That's not the only big change in his life recently: he split from fiancée Perrie Edwards of Little Mix earlier this month. They had been engaged since August 2013 and reports suggest the separation came as a huge shock to Perrie.
Coincidentally, both Zayn and Perrie are in LA at the same time: Zayn attended Kylie Jenner's 18th birthday celebrations last week, while Perrie performed with Little Mix at the Teen Choice Awards 2015 last night.
It's been reported that Zayn and Perrie's home in London is now on the market for a whopping £4.2 million. They only moved into the house a few months ago.
