Blue singer Lee Ryan has apologised to fans for the band's postponed European tour.

It was revealed this week that Celebrity Big Brother star Lee has to undergo emergency surgery to remove a cyst on his vocal chords.

As a result, Lee and his bandmates - Simon Webbe, Duncan James and Antony Costa - have had to delay the tour, which was due to kicks off in just two months time.

In a message to fans on Thursday (13 August), Lee said: "Thanks for all the cards & messages of support guys. Sorry if I've let you down with the tour. Love // Lee xx."Blue's manager Paul DH Baylay said the cyst was "restricting" Lee's ability to sing.

A statement explained: "After he has had surgery Lee will work with a vocal coach to bring his voice back to full strength."

The tour has been postponed to a later date to "allow Lee's voice ample opportunity to recover at a natural pace without undue stress"

The statement concluded: "The need for surgery and his deteriorating voice of late has not been easy for Lee but he is looking forward to the recovery and being back on stage with Blue as they look forward to 'Fifteen Years of Blue' in 2016."
