The tattoo, which is a large portrait of a lion's face on his chest, received a handful of mixed reviews.

Even Keane frontman Tom Chaplin aired his thoughts via Twitter, saying: "Please tell me this is a prank. Cos if it isn't, @edsheeran has a really bad picture of a lion on his chest FOREVER."

But taking to Twitter on Wednesday (12 August), Ed said: "All this kerfuffle over a tattoo. If it was black and white saying a clever phrase in a language I can't speak no one would've said anything.

Ed hit out at critics to say he doesn't care if they don't like his tattoo.

"It's not the first weird tattoo I've got and it won't be the last, but I like all of them. I'm also eating a bowl of pasta now so byeziez x." [sic].

Well, there you have it. Ed likes his tattoo and he's planning to have a lot more too!
