Taking to Twitter, the 23-year-old shared a message with fans to confirm her exit and the reasons behind it.

It read: "Being part of Geordie Shore was amazing and one of the best experiences I've ever been given and I will never forget it, but I couldn't continue in the show in a relationship. It wasn't fun to me anymore and I didn't enjoy it.

"Picking between my future was extremely easy, Ricky would always come first. It was hard to say goodbye, but if I hadn't I would have lost Ricky, which I wouldn't have let happen. Staying in Geordie Shore wasn't possible any more. Given a choice on the day of my engagement to say no and continue with Geordie Shore, or say yes and leave it for good, I chose to get engaged to Ricky and say goodbye to the show - a decision I am extremely happy with.

"I would never let the person I love go because of a TV show. I'm so grateful to MTV for the opportunity and journey I got. It was fantastic and I will always remember it as a great time in my life."

Marnie's comments come after it was suggest the producers of Geordie Shore had let her go from the show. According to reports, she clashed with show bosses while filming her proposal in Zante.

Marnie's beau Ricky (who has now left The Only Way Is Essex) flew out to surprise his girlfriend, asking her to marry him.

His proposal was caught on camera, however, it has been said Marnie didn't want the special moment between the pair to be filmed.

An insider told The Daily Mirror: "Marnie threw a bit of a tantrum. After a talking to by producers the filming continued, but bosses now think her storyline has come to an end. Marnie was told the news earlier this week and is said to be devastated."

Marnie had joined the cast of Geordie Shore back in 2013. Since her arrival viewers have watched the 23-year-old enjoy an on/off romance with Scotty T, Aaron Chalmers and Gary Beadle. Struggling to get on with the girls in the house at first, Marnie majorly clashed with Charlotte Crosby and Holly Hagan, but now the trio have become good pals.

News of Marnie's supposed exit from Geordie Shore comes after the starlet recently confirmed her engagement.

Despite Ricky's rep confirming reports the reality star had popped the question, Marnie and her hubbie-to-be had refused to comment on such engagement reports until now.

While writing a diary for The Daily Star to document her recent breast surgery, Marnie said: "I really want [to] put [my scarring] right for when we get married. I would love to think that I wouldn't be self-conscious on our wedding night... we are not getting wed for some time yet, but I love [Ricky] so much and I want it to be just right for him."

Marnie had surgery to correct a botched breast uplift she had when she was 21 years old.

As well as addressing her upcoming nuptials, Marnie has even treated fans to a better look at her engagement ring too.

She and Ricky first began dating earlier this year, with the Essex boy getting down on one knee six months into their whirlwind romance.
