X Factor judge Louis Walsh has said he didn't enjoy being on the judging panel last year.

As the longest standing judge on the show, Irish music manager Louis left after 10 years and will not be on the ITV talent show this year.

"I loved doing the show for 10 years," Louis said on RTE 2FM. "I didn't love it last year if I'm really honest with you. I liked it and it paid me well but I think I was just there too long and I was cracking up a bit."

This year's line-up sees Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and newbies Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw on the panel.

Louis said he thought Radio 1 DJ Nick was a "strange choice originally", but said: "I hope he works out."

This was Louis' favourite year with Nicole, Gary and Sharon.

Speaking about his favourite series, Louis said it was two years ago with Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow: "We'd go out every Sunday night together.

"We took turns going to different restaurants and we took turns getting the bill. Sharon had strippers lined up one night in The Dorchester. Nicole used to drink so much, she can drink."
