Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh has confessed she sometimes favours Strictly Come Dancing to BFF Cheryl Fernandez Versini's show The X Factor.

As X Factor prepares to return to our screens with its twelfth series, Kimberley admits she now finds herself "torn" on what to watch after becoming obsessed with BBC's dance competition Strictly.

The mum-of-one came second when she took part on the show back in 2012 and has since fallen in love with it. So much so, that she has found herself switching off Cheryl to tune into Strictly instead!

In a recent interview with The Mirror, Kimberley revealed: "Now Cheryl is back on X Factor, I have to watch both [shows]... on a Saturday night I'm really torn. Usually I watch X Factor live, but I sometimes switch to Strictly if it's an important week."

While the 33-year-old's confession had us all thinking what her best pal Cheryl makes of her tendency to channel hop, Kimberley was quick to add: "Cheryl's fine about it... she knows I get obsessed with Strictly! I absolutely love it!"

Kimberley's comments come after Cheryl recently wrapped up X Factor's boot camp round with fellow judges Simon Cowell, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora. Successful contestants will then go on to sing again at Judges' Houses and according to reports, the results from Judges' Houses could be revealed live this year.

Music mogul Simon had promised big changes when it comes to The X Factor this time round and rumour has it hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will be broadcasting the Judges' Houses round live.

That would mean the presenting duo will have to stay behind in London and won't get to jet off to an exotic location like previous years, as they'll be anchoring the episode from a TV studio.

A source recently told The Sun: "Being with the judges and contestants at this crucial stage is one of the best bits of the job. And it beats being stood in a cold studio in Wembley. But they are excited about the series."

It's changes to the competition like this that have got Cheryl "more excited than ever" to be a judge on The X Factor.

Before joining Simon, Rita and Nick at auditions, the 'Crazy Stupid Love' singer had said: "I haven't been as excited about an X Factor season since I first became a judge.

"The addition of Rita and Grimmy along with some interesting changes we've made to the format has refocused us to do what we do best, finding talent and making stars."
