Jeremy, 50, will be hitting the dance floor for the show's 13th series, which will see celebrities perform a dazzling display of ballroom routines each week.
The announcement was made on Monday morning (10 August) on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.
Points of View and Eggheads presenter Jeremy said on the radio station: "How could I say no to the biggest show in TV? Yes, yes, yes and yes again to the sequins and the Samba!
"Now I just need to find some dancing shoes and identify my left foot. I am doing it for my two young daughters who jumped behind the sofa when I told them! It seems Dad on Strictly is more scary than Doctor Who!"
More celebrity contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced in due course.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One for its 13th series in September 2015.
