All this week, Xtra Factor presenters Rochelle and Melvin have been filming with this year's hopefuls as the X Factor heats up. But despite the long hours and frozen fingers (Roch hasn't been the biggest fan of filming outdoors lately thanks to the wet weather!), The Saturdays singer was still in high spirits.
Especially because today marked a special day for her onscreen partner in crime, Melvin. It's his birthday!
Taking to Instagram, Rochelle shared a snap of herself leading the "birthday cheers" as Melvin blew out the candles on his cake. She told fans: "Birthday cheers for the birthday boy @melvinodoom."
Today, Kiss FM DJ Melvin turns 35 and we can't help but notice his pals at X Factor bestowed him with a photo cake to feast on. Photo cakes are always the best type of birthday cake, mainly because they boast an incriminating or hugely embarrassing blown up snap for all to see. Luckily for Melvin though, Roch didn't quite manage to capture his chosen photo on camera.
Oh Roch, you tease! Let's have a close up!
Rochelle's latest Instagram comes as The X Factor's boot camp round gets well underway. Prior to boot camp starting hopefuls had been rocked as not all those that auditioned managed to get a place.
A spokesperson for the show had told The Mirror: "Owing to a very high standard of talent during this year's X Factor arena auditions, not all successful singers will be offered a place at Bootcamp. All singers have been made aware of this and are being told this weekend whether or not they will be going through to Bootcamp, after the judges have reviewed their auditions."
For those that have made it, it seems there's some tough competition ahead. Sharing an update on boot camp so far, Rochelle told her Twitter followers: "Morning...Another day in bootcamp, things are really hotting up. The level of talent this year is insane, tough decisions for the judges."
Meanwhile, in other X Factor news, the show has waved goodbye to its voiceover Peter Dickson. Peter has been announcing the judges and contestants name for 11 years now, but has finally decided to hang up his microphone.
On hearing of his exit, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini admitted she was "sad" to see him go, while Nick Grimshaw revealed he would love 'Wasn't Me' rapper Shaggy to replace him. That would be kind of genius, right?
As Peter leaves, speculation is rife that Louis Walsh could now be returning to the show. Louis too had been a part of the X Factor for over a decade, but he was eventually replaced as a judge by Nick Grimshaw earlier this year.
However, if Louis does come back it's not for keeps. He's reportedly been drafted in to create a comedy sketch for the opening of this X Factor series when it hits our screens. Rumour has it he'll be cleaning floors in a science lab where Simon Cowell creates future X Factor stars.
Anyone else kind of hope this rumour is true?
