According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ed will play Sir Cormac, "an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder".

Ed is thought to have landed the part after contributing a song to Sons of Anarchy, which he also happens to be a massive fan of. Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is also responsible for The Bastard Executioner.

The series is expected to air later this year.

Ed has teased his new acting role before, saying the show was "gruesome" and "really, really dark".

This will be Ed's first major acting stint, but he's no stranger to the small screen having made a cameo in popular Australian soap Home and Away, which will air later this year.
