Sinitta has denied "slamming" Nick Grimshaw in a recent interview she gave about him becoming the new X Factor judge.

Sinitta took to Twitter last night to clarify comments made about Radio 1 DJ Nick, where she questioned Nick's ability to judge because "he can't sing" and said Simon chose him because they are good friends.

However, Sinitta tweeted to her followers on Thursday night (16 July): "So everyone exaggerating and saying I slammed Nick Grimshaw. I merely made a few intelligent observations and also complimented him!

"I actually said I thought @SimonCowell would have fun with Nick Grimshaw, so what's all the fuss about?! He is obviously a connoisseur of pop!"

Sinitta, who regularly features alongside Simon during the Judge's Houses stage of the competition, is not the only person to speak about Nick's role as a judge.

Former Xtra Factor presenter and radio DJ Sarah-Jane Crawford defended Nick, recently telling Reveal: "It was a different choice but a good one. If a popstar can make a call, why can't a DJ? It's better for people to be talking about it than not. I really wish him the best, he'll be so fun to watch."

Simon has also defended his decision to hire Nick, telling The Sun earlier this month: "I have an issue with artists judging other artists. I would never allow a group of artists to run the record label, that would be crazy. You have to balance it up a bit."

Nick takes his place on the judging panel alongside new judge Rita Ora, who sits alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon.
