During Wednesday night's final (15 July), viewers watched as Essex boy Jon actually proposed to girlfriend Hannah, asking her to marry him. Of course, smitten Hannah was quick to say yes, but that didn't stop a few sceptics from claiming their engagement is all for the show.
Love Island's winning couple Max and Jess, however, have hit back on behalf of their pals, exclusively telling Reveal, Hannah and Jon's romance is real. 100 percent (to quote Jess' catchphrase).
Catching up with the couple after their £50,000 win, Max told us: "We've spent six weeks with [Hannah and Jon], 24 hours a day, so we've seen how much they are in love and how real it actually is."
Despite knowing the couple are totally besotted with each other, Max and Jess admit they had no idea Jon was actually going to pop the question.
Inspired by a wedding-theme commitment task that saw the boys write vows for their partners, Jon decided to go all out and actually get down on one knee, even ringing Hannah's dad beforehand to ask for his permission to propose.
Recalling the moment Jon popped the question, Max said: "It was a total shock. Literally. I nearly fell out of my chair. We're both very happy for them and we wish them the best of luck."
Considering the proposal was slightly last minute, we've been just itching to know where Jon managed to get a ring from at such short notice. Especially as he was confined to the Love Island villa during the task.
While we thought Max and Jess might be able to shed some light on it, they told us they too had no idea. Although they did reveal Hannah's current rock could be a stand-in for the real bling.
"We don't actually know," admitted Max. "I think it's a little fake ring that he had asked someone to get for him quickly."
Jess added: "I'm sure a better one is on the way."
With Hannah and Jon's big day set to be one lavish affair, we asked Max and Jess if they'll be attending the couple's nuptials. They told us: "We flipping hope so, yeah!"
Max and Jess' support for Hannah and Jon comes after the couple were forced to reveal they had met prior to starring on Love Island.
Revealing their history together, Hannah told host Caroline Flack she and Jon had met previously on two occasions, but nothing had gone on between the pair.
In fact, Jon was more interested in her friend than her!
"We met each other in Marbella and had one night out together," she said. "[Jon] actually necked my best mate that night. Then literally I've got a photo with him when I was in Essex when I was p*ssed, but that was it. I walked in here, I've always fancied Jon, and when I see him I was like 'oh my god, it's Jon'."
Her beau then added: "We know a lot of the same people. We knew who each other were, but this experience has given us the opportunity to see how much we could fall in love together."
