A report in today's The Sun claimed that Simon Cowell had chosen not to take Zayn on as a solo artist following his departure from One Direction in March.
But a rep for the label has insisted that's not true.
A source had told The Sun that Simon struck a deal that allowed Zayn to move to another label within the Sony family because it would have been "difficult" having both One Direction and Zayn on the same record label.
Zayn quit 1D in March after five years.
In a statement at the time, he said: "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
But rather than retreating away from the limelight, the singer has been in the studio working on solo material. Producer Naughty Boy shared a solo track from Zayn Malik at the end of March although it was later removed from online.
It appears that Zayn and Naughty Boy have since fallen out, however, as Zayn tweeted at the producer this week: "You fat joke. Stop pretending we're friends no one knows you."
