In a new interview with Huffington Post, the rapper said that he'd grown apart from his singer fiancee ahead of their wedding day and felt it was right to end things rather than carry on.
Future explained: "I feel like 95 percent of relationships end with cheating, but me and her relationship had nothing to do with cheating. I feel like we were just growing away from each other. We grew apart.
"When you're the man, you wanna make certain decisions for yourself and she wanna make certain decisions. And I feel like the best route for me is to make more music, to go back to Atlanta and go back to my roots to do what feels good for the family.
"Sometimes the lady don't see what you see. That was a hard situation but at the end of the day it wasn't about that. I called off [the engagement] way before any cheating rumours came out. The engagement was already off."
Future and Ciara share a child together, son Future, born in May last year.
