Tamera Mowry-Housley has said she's elated and blessed to have given birth to a healthy baby girl.

The former Sister Sister star and her husband Adam Housley welcomed daughter Ariah Talea Housley on Wednesday, 1 July.

Now back home and settling into life with Ariah, the couple are feeling fantastic.

Tamera wrote a lengthy post on her official website this week, telling fans: "We are so elated (though exhausted) to have a beauty and healthy baby girl. We are truly appreciative of all of our family, friends and fans for their blessings. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Can't wait to share more about her as she continues to grow and warm our hearts."

The 36-year-old also revealed how the couple had chosen the name Ariah Talea.

Tamera explained that after naming their son Aden, now two, and having Adam as a husband, she wanted their family tradition to be baby names beginning with an A.

She came across a shop called Araya and loved the name but wanted to change the spelling to make it easier to pronounce: Ariah is pronounced like Mariah without the M.

Talea had initially been intended as a name a friend of Tamera's was using in a new novel for a character inspired by Tamera.

"It wasn't until after we had decided on Ariah Talea Housley that Adam and I learned the origin and meaning of both names - they couldn't be more appropriate for a family like ours whose faith is so very strong," she said.

"Both Hebrew names, Ariah means Lion of God and Talea means one who resembles the morning dew of Heaven. We couldn't have found names with a better meaning if we had tried."

Aww. Congrats to Tamera and Adam!
