The Voice UK coach Ricky Wilson has said Rita Ora confided in him about whether she should leave the BBC One talent show for rival show, The X Factor.

Rita joined The Voice for the fourth series but left after one year after signing up to judge X Factor alongside Nick Grimshaw, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell.

Speaking to The Sun, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky said: "Rita asked me about that, whether she should do it or not. I think it is a good thing for her. She will enjoy it. She can do what she likes.

"It is quite a compliment to The Voice when you think about it."

Ricky has already revealed his uncertainty over whether he will return for The Voice's new series alongside Tom Jones and will.i.am.

He also told the newspaper: "I haven't heard a whisper about whether I'm doing it or not. I would have to talk seriously to the band about it. They weren't 100 per cent with me doing it the first time. Second time they liked it because they knew it worked for the band."

Elsewhere, former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has been tipped to join The Voice as Rita's replacement, but a report over the weekend suggested there could be a ban in place to stop the hiring of judges from rival shows.

According to recent reports, FKA Twigs, Mel C and Paloma Faith have also been tipped to replace Rita.
