Ed Sheeran has set a new chart record almost one year after the release of 'Thinking Out Loud'.

The hit single has become the first ever to spend a full year inside the UK Top 40. That's quite a big achievement!

'Thinking Out Loud' beat off competition from the likes of John Legend's 'All Of Me' and Pharrell Williams' hit single 'Happy'.

One year after its release, 'Thinking Out Loud' has had 52 consecutive weeks in charts, and finished at Number 28 this week.

The ballad spent two weeks at the Number 1 spot, but it also held the title for having the longest climb ever to the top spot, as it took 19 weeks to get to Number 1.

It's been a successful past month for Ed, who was recently immortalised as a waxwork at Madame Tussauds' hall of fame in New York.

Ed has been making a big impact both in the UK and Stateside, and he's already working on his third studio album.

He said earlier this year: "I started working on the third album as soon as I handed in the second album. I didn't write any songs for eight months and then I had a month off at Christmas which was wicked, and the songs just poured out."
