Hugh Hefner has hit back at former girlfriend Holly Madison's new tell-all book.

Now a married mother of one, former model Holly has spoken about her relationship with Hef and life in the Playboy mansion in autobiography Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny.

Holly doesn't paint her now 89-year-old ex in a very good light...

Responding in a statement to People, the publishing legend said: "Over the course of my life I've had more than my fair share of romantic relationships with wonderful women. Many moved on to live happy, healthy and productive lives and I'm pleased to say remain dear friends today. Sadly, there are a few who have chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight."

Holly, 35, has not responded, instead tweeting about her book tour and visiting Brooklyn, New York to promote the autobiography today.

She split from Hef in 2008 after finding fame as one of his girlfriends on the E! reality show Girls Next Door. He has since married model Crystal Hefner while Holly is married to businessman Pasquale Rotella, the father of her daughter Rainbow.
