Viewers saw Tommy accusing Ferne McCann of interfering in his relationship with Georgia Kousoulou, saying she'd been telling Georgia that Tommy didn't speak to her with respect.
Tommy told Ferne to leave them alone and also took a personal swipe branding her "loose" - something which Ferne has furiously hit back at today.
Now in a video for the official TOWIE website, Tommy's pal Lewis has defended him.
"Mallet is an easy person to attack just because of his disposition," said Lewis. "I always say he's a gentleman at the core but rough round the edges. From the moment he stepped on the scene everyone was saying, 'He's a playboy, he's this, he's that, he's wild' but he's proved everyone wrong.
"It's frustrating for me as a friend, who sees his soft side, his fears, how he thinks about life, for people to turn around and cast their opinion which just isn't true."
Meanwhile, Tommy's girlfriend Georgia also defended him in a string of tweets this morning, saying they have a great relationship: "I am very happy in my relationship. Tommy does NOT talk to me bad. He doesn't treat me bad! Yes we row and bicker like everyone else but he DOESN'T call me names like Ferne referenced.
"We had a normal couple row. I spoke to the girls about the row. I expected opinions about THE ROW but I didn't expect ppl to have opinions about the way he treats me when they have never seen us row."
TOWIE airs Sundays and Wednesdays at 10pm on ITVBe.
