A source said: "The two boys auditioned together and all the vibes were that they were going to get the gig together. It's like splitting up Ant and Dec – can you imagine how Rickie feels?"
Bosses have not officially confirmed the Xtra Factor lineup, although we do know last year's host Sarah-Jane Crawford will not be returning.
Hopefully we get an answer soon, though, as just this week the actual judging panel was finalised with the official confirmation that Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw have been signed.
Rita and BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick will judge alongside the returning Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell. Louis Walsh and Mel B have left the show.
Meanwhile, long-time host Dermot O'Leary has also left so we'll be seeing Caroline Flack and Olly Murs taking his place: the first ever double act to host the main show.
