Paula Lane has described her Coronation Street return as tearaway Kylie Platt as "fabulous".

Paula, who returned to work in March after going on maternity leave, told ITV's Lorraine today (17 June): "It's fabulous. I didn't really feel like I had that much time off to be honest and I never felt like I'd been away too long.

Paula Lane has talks about her Coronation Street return as tearaway Kylie Platt - 17 June 2015.

"I was still able to pick all of my scripts up and learn them quite quickly. I'm five years in now, so it's a bit like learning to drive, it doesn't ever really leave you, especially because I've been playing her for so long."

Paula, who welcomed son Arthur on 31 December last year, said she sometimes takes her little boy to work: "Sometimes I might bring him to the studios, but we live quite a distance away from Manchester, so it's just when it can work really."

Speaking about other new mums on the cobbles, including her co-stare Jennie McAlpine and Catherine Tyldesley, Paula said: "We had a crazy baby boom last year, where everyone was just on the sly saying they're pregnant. It's like an exclusive club. We just get on with it and we're so looked after here. We are like a big family at Corrie. We take everyone under each other's wings."

With Kylie already back in Weatherfield, Paula added: "I had 32 pages on my third day back so I quickly had to get into the role again... She is a gift of a part... She keeps me on my toes."

It was revealed last month that Paula will be around for at least another year on the long-running ITV soap after signing a 12-month contract.
