In a series of tweets today, he said he was happy about the new judging lineup and looking forward to what would unfold on screen later this year.
Simon will judge alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, returning for a fifth year, and newcomers Rita Ora and BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw.
"The best kept secret in TV is out!! But I am really happy with the new judging line up for XFactor this year. It's going to be a lot of fun," said Simon.
"We met a lot of people. I really believe everyone on the show this year is excited about finding someone who has star potential. We have always had great judges. And I will always be thankful for their passion and expertise.
"I have know idea what the show will look like but I feel both excited and nervous. It's going to be very different! Embrace the madness…"
Cheryl has also hinted at something new this year, saying: "The addition of Rita and Grimmy along with some interesting changes we've made to the format has refocused us to do what we do best, finding talent and making stars. I cannot wait to get started!"
As well as new judges, we have new presenters in the form of Caroline Flack and Olly Murs who will be the first double act to present the main X Factor show.
